Untested medication

At what age is it safe to use psychotropic medication on children, considering there is no research on long term effects?

I am sorry, but I would have to say - with my own children in mind... NEVER! Especially an untested medication. Again, as I have mentioned before, I would try everything else first.

Do the majority of parents who give their children these medications, know that it has not been tested and proven safe for use in children? I'm assuming not, or people wouldn't be giving it?
